DI Fundraiser: Kinusaiga Decorative Ball 5/2

This class is a fundraiser to benefit the GVS Destination Imagination (DI) Team on their journey to the DI Global Competition! All proceeds from this class will be donated to The Dizzy Iguanas! (See below for more information about this incredible team) 

Kinusaiga (ki-noo-sigh-gah) is a 20th-century Japanese art form that transforms fabric scraps into beautiful, mosaic, quilt-like pictures. This no-sew technique is friendly for all experience levels and takes only basic instruction and materials to achieve beautiful results. We will be using Kinusaiga techniques to create beautiful decorative ball ornaments. You will select the fabrics you want to use to make your final product truly one of a kind!

All materials and instructions provided. There will be tea and water provided as well.

This class involves the use of sharp tools and fine motor work. Recommended age: 12+

About this fundraiser:

Our 5th grade Destination Imagination team has accomplished something incredible—they’ve qualified for the Global Finals! After months of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, they now have the chance to represent our community on a global stage. Destination Imagination is more than a competition. It challenges students to think critically, work collaboratively, and build confidence in ways that go far beyond the classroom. We’ve watched these kids grow into leaders, risk-takers, and supportive teammates.

Now, with the Global Finals ahead, we’re reaching out for support. The costs of travel, lodging, and registration fees add up quickly, and we want to make sure every team member can experience this amazing opportunity. Your support will help our team come together, represent our community, and show what young people are capable of when given the chance to shine.
